Thomas the Tank Engine first appeared in 1946 in the book Thomas the Tank Engine as a station pilot, whose job was to shunt coaches for the bigger engines and later became a phenomenal award-winning hit on and off the screen around the world.

Since its 1980s debut on UK television Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends has become a global classic, translated into 19 languages and broadcast in more than 130 countries. As popularity grew, Thomas based merchandise has proven very lucrative with numerous toys, games, puzzles, videos and clothing being produced for the brand.

Based upon The Railway Series of books written by the Rev. Awdry, the stories are set on the beautiful island of Sodor in a traditional English countryside during the steam engine era.
